Falcons rally past Marian 4-1 in opener

Manufacturing a pair of runs in the 8th and 2 more in the 9th, Val Keiper's club edged host Marian 4-1 in the first game of their crucial Sunday doubleheader.

Austin Sarauer singled to lead off the CUW 8th before Derrick Pankow walked. Dan Shea bunted the runners into scoring position and then Adam Martz drove them home with a clutch single.

In the 9th Concordia got insurance as Daniel Mueller and Ryan Schilter recorded hits and both came 'round on a Sabre error.

Pankow pitched 8 strong innings to earn the win and Matt Parrent got the save with a scoreless 9th.
