Concordia needed one win to qualify for the prestigeous NAC tournament and two to tie for the NAC championship.

Host Marian botched the second option as the Sabres rallied from a 5-3 deficit to defeat CUW 7-6 and earn a split for the day.

The Falcons got a pair of second inning runs on hits by Adam Martz, Nick Doedens, and Matt Schilter.

With the score 2-2 in the 4th, the Schilter brothers got back-back hits to make it 3-2 CUW.

Marian tied the game 3-3 before Concordia came up with 2 runs in the sixth, both coming home on Austin Sarauer's single.

The relentless Sabres tied it once again in their half of the 6th before CUW took their last lead (6-5) with a run in the 8th. Sarauer also drove in that run with a double but Concordia left the bases loaded.

Once again Marian came back to tie it heading into the 9th and then the Sabres combined a walk, sacrifice, and game-winning single in the bottom of the 9th to ruin the day for CUW.

Val Keiper's team finished with a 16-6 conference record, behind Rockford and Edgewood (both 17-5). Aurora and Concordia- Chicago were also 16-6 in the incredibly competitive NAC. A head-head tie-breaker eliminated CU- Chicago from the 4 team playoff.

The #3 seeded Falcons will play #2 seed Rockford at 12:30 on Friday in the first round of the double elimination NAC Championship Tournament. The game will be played at Road Rangers Stadium in Loves Park, Illinois. No. 1 seed Edgewood will meet #4 Aurora at 9:00am in the first game that same day.
