Falcons lose huge lead but rally to win 11-10
Leading 9-3 heading into the ninth, CUW (2-2 in the NAC) gave up seven runs before rallying in the bottom of that final frame for an 11-10 win over Dominican.
Each of the Falcon's 4 conference games has been decided by a single run but the others were fairly close all the way. On this occasion Matt Parrent held the Stars at bay for 8 frames and left with the comfortable six run cushion.
Concordia scored a trio of runs in the 4th and 6th innings to build the big lead with Ryan and Matt Schilter each crossing home plate 3 times.
Dominican's seven run 9th saw three Falcon relievers walk 4 batters, hit 1, and give up 3 hits. CUW needed a big 9th to pull the game out and got it.
Catcher Ryan Schilter was hit by a pitch with one out and Zach Prideaux sent him to third with a pinch hit single. Nick Doedens pinch ran for Prideaux and stole second. Then Dan Shea hit a sacrifice fly to score Schilter before Adam Martz drove home Doedens with another single.
Game two was tied 10-10 in the eighth when the fog rolled in. It will be completed on Sunday in River Forest, Illinois after the DH with CU- Chicago.
