Trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Concordia (8-6 in NAC play) came up with a trio of tallies to tie the game against Edgewood, now 11-8; and then the Falcons got a walk-off homer from freshman Harry Steldt to win it in the 10th.
Dan Shea singled to open the Falcon 9th and Adam Martz followed with a walk. That signaled the exit for Edgewood starter Blake O'Brien who had held CUW to 5 hits to that point.
Harry Steldt flew out but Nick Doedens was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Concordia dented the scoring column when Brandon Schider's pinch hit single drove in the first run. Matt Schilter walked to force in the second run of the inning and Daniel Mueller got a free pass to tie the score before the 9th inning ended with the game tied at 3.
Then Steldt's two out 10th inning homer made a winner of Derrick Pankow (4-4) who pitched the entire game for CUW.
CUW had scored only two runs in their most recent 39 innings of play, making Saturday's last ditch rally all the more improbable...and satisfying as Val keiper's team improved to 12-16 on the season.
