This game started on April 9th in Mequon and ended on May 4th in West Bend but the fog-suspended slugfest between Dominican and Concordia is finally history.
Concordia scored three times in the bottom of the 8th last evening to break the 10-10 8th inning tie that was created four weeks ago.
Ryan Schilter singled to lead off the bottom of the 8th last evening. Then Derrick Pankow walked and both runners moved up on a sacrifice by Mark Schonenberg. Adam Martz doubled Schilter and Pankow home and eventually scored an insurance run on a wild pitch.
Pankow set the visitors down in order in the ninth and suddenly the multi-site, multi-week, multi-hit marathon was over and CUW was back in the thick of the NAC playoff picture.
Via four conference wins over the past 5 days, Val Keiper's team is now 11-7 in league play with doubleheaders against Aurora (Friday starting at 1pm in West Bend) and Marian (Saturday starting at noon in West Bend) remaining to complete the league's 22 game regular season schedule.
Only the top 4 teams make the playoffs so it's wide open at this point with a derth of tie-breaking procedures looming.
