Doug Gonring played collegiately atFlorida Atlantic University and is part of that school's BaseballHall of Fame. FAU's first baseball coach, Steve Traylor, describedGonring as "one of the program's greatest run producers." 

Gonring brought a wealth of baseball experience to CUW in 2005,having spent several seasons as a catcher in the Houston Astro andToronto Blue Jay's organizations prior to professional baseballretirement in 1988. 

After taking the head coaching reins at West Bend East in 1994,Gonring led the Suns to State baseball titles in 1999 and 2002.Former Falcons Josh Heisdorf, Troy Riehl and Adam Rohlinger playedhigh school baseball for Gonring and earned state titles atWBE. 

During his nine high school coaching seasons in West Bend East,Gonring developed numerous players who have made names forthemselves in the professional ranks. For example, former Sunshurlers Jason Wiedmeyer (San Diego Padres) and Mike Mueller(Atlanta Braves) pitched professionally after college and thidbaseman Ryan Rohlinger plays for the San FranciscoGiants. 

Gonring resides in Kewaskum, Wis., with his wife Karen andchildren Lauren and Tony. He is also the head baseball coach atKewaskum High School. The Falcon lineup is loadedwith Washington County players recruited by Gonring and2009 National statistical champion Jon Olla formerly playedfor Doug at Kewaskum High School.
