HARTFORD, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin moved three spots up the leaderboard on Monday to finish in a tie for eighth place at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational. Evan Rabas led the Falcons with a tie for 29th at the par 72, 7,048 yard Washington Country Golf Course.
The Falcons shot a 640 team total (322-318) and were four strokes better than the opening round.
Edgewood College had a seven-stroke lead after round one and held on for a one-stroke win. The Eagles shot a 594 total (287-307), while Spalding University finished in second place with a 595 total (294-301).
Michael Mathwick (Edgewood College) held on to his three-stroke advantage to win medalist honors with an even-par 144 total (69-75). Hunt Lenz (Spalding) placed second with a 3-over-par 147 total (73-74).
Rabas (freshman, Sherwood, Wis.) fired a 157 total (76-81) to pace the Falcons lineup. Sophomore Mike Loftus (Germantown, Wis.) fired the lowest round of any CUW player on Monday with a 77. He finished in 43rd with a 160 total (83-77). Loftus led CUW at the Invitational with 20 pars.
Freshman Oliver Sadiq (Elkhart Lakes, Wis.) carded a 161 total (83-78) to tie for 44th. Sophomore Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) and junior Chris Payne (Waukesha, Wis.) each tied for 59th with a 164 total. Payne led the Falcons at the Invitational with four birdies.
CUW returns to the links on Sunday for the MSOE Invitational at Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva, Wis.
