Concordia and Aurora battled evenly through 80 minutes of soccer action until a controversial penalty call inside the box gave the Spartans a chance to end the game in regulation.
Both sides generated opportunities but neither found the back of the net until the successful PK.
"We were just outstanding defensively...certainly our best performance this year. Rogers and Pope were all over the field and did everything we'd ask of them," said CUW coach Tom Saleska in retrospect.
"It was just a very good soccer match," he concluded. "It's too bad that the outcome was decided that way."
