Men's Track competes at UW-Madison Red & White Open
MADISON, Wis. - There were several outstanding performances today for CUW's track and field team competing in the UW-Madison Red & White Open. It was a unique opportunity for the team to compete with higher caliber athletes and tough competition.
On the track, junior Martin Hinze (Bourbonnais, Ill.) shaved a whole 4 seconds off of his mile time, running 4:24.93 and coming in sixth overall after five UW-Madison athletes. Freshman Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.) also had a big PR in the 3000 running a time of 9:43.67.
In the field events, freshman Tyler White (Milwaukee, Wis.) had another impressive day in the triple jump, getting almost a meter PR with a jump of 13.67m (44' 10.25"). White placed second in the triple jump and is now ranked 3rd in conference and 49th in the nation. Other PR performances in the throws included sophomore Andrew Faber (Germantown, Wis.) in shot put and and sophomore William Sommer (Germantown, Wis.) in weight throw.
