KENOSHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Track & Field team concluded its indoor season Friday as four student-athletes competed at the Gill Athletics Final Qualifier meet, hosted by Carthage College.
The meet is held for athletes to try and gain top times and distances, in hopes of setting PRs and school records. No team scores are kept.
Three of the four Falcons competing did so in throwing events, led by junior Andrea Kassees (Waukesha, Wis.). She recorded a PR in the weight throw with a toss of 13.73 meters. Her previous best came earlier this season, when she threw 13.45 meters at Illinois Wesleyan. Sophomore Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis. - pictured) competed in the shot put, recording a throw of 10.6 meters, while junior Andrew Faber (Germantown, Wis.) took part in weight throw on the men's side. Faber's best throw was 14.28 meters.
Senior Martin Hinze (Bourbonnais, Ill.) had a strong showing on the track, winning the mile run. Hinze, who was named NACC Track Athlete of the Meet at last weekend's conference championships, won the event with a time of 4:24.22.
CUW will be off until the outdoor season begins March 28-29. The Falcons will begin with a meet at Washington University in St. Louis.
