ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Track & Field team competed in the highly competitive Augustana College Meet of Champions Friday.
The Falcons had several athletes turn in strong performances, including sophomore Trent Pacheco (Iron Mountain, Mich.). Pachecho competed in four events, including the javelin throw where he posted a PR of 44.1 meters, topping his previous best by three meters. He now ranks fourth in the NACC in the event.
Sophomore Jacob Schwark (Fraser, Mich.) also had a PR in the javelin throw, besting his previous mark by four meters. Schwark recorded a toss of 40.26 meters in the event.
On the track a pair of freshmen posted PRs in the 400-meter dash. Logan Hass (Manawa, Wis.) and Brandon Goesch (Germantown, Wis.) crossed the finish in 52.55 and 53.23 seconds, respectively, Goesch setting his new mark by over four seconds. Sophomore Seth Donovan (Caledonia, Wis.) also set a PR in the 400 with a time of 52.76. Junior Dayton Lueck (Wauwatosa, Wis.) added a PR in the 1,500-meter run, finishing the race in 4:19.
CUW had a pair of athletes PR in the long jump in freshmen Zack DeWindt (Germantown, Wis.) and Tafari Young (Orlando, Fla.). DeWindt leaped 4.89 meters, while Young showed his steady improvement with a jump of 4.6 meters.
The Falcons will be back in action next weekend at the Beloit Relays in a final tune-up before the NACC Championships.
