Chas Walton graduated from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., with a Bachelor's Degree in exercise and sports science and is a certified educational instructor of physical education and health. Participating on both the football and track & field teams for four years at Carthage College. Walton started for two years on the RedMen offense and served as an eight-time all-conference competitor in triple jump, pole vault, javelin and multi-events. Named team captain in 2010, he received team awards such as "Most Improved" during the 2009 season as well as "Most Dedicated" during the 2010 season. Walton began his coaching career in 2010 as a part-time pole vault coach before taking over coaching javelin in 2013. In 2014, Walton added long jump and triple jump to his coaching duties.
