Falcons drop Florida finale 9-8

Things looked great for 4 innings as the Falcons built a 6-0 cushion over Westfield State (MA) Thursday in their Florida finale.

Unfortunately the winners (3-3) had their own definition of greatness as they rallied for 7 runs in the fifth on the way to a 9-8 comeback victory.

The big inning for CUW was a 5 run fourth that included 6 hits. Run-scoring doubles by Chelsie Strosina and Cara Landherr were featured in that rally.

Westfield State came back with that killer 5th, bunching 6 hits along with a pair of crucial Concordia errors that fueled the onslaught.

"Angela Ward was outstanding all week behind the plate," offered Coach Steve Crook. The Falcons finished 5-5 in Florida.

"Our freshmen played pretty well in Florida but we have work to do before we start conference play."
