Benedictine pitcher shuts down Falcons 1-0

Lisle, IL

Danielle Burke pitched 9 innings of shutout softball, but a triple and infield error allowed first place Benedictine (15-0 in the NAC) to escape with a 1-0 win over the Falcons yesterday in the first game of a doubleheader.

Concordia, now 8-5 in league play, managed only 4 hits against Brittany Adcox with only one Falcon reaching third base in the contest.

CUW's best scoring opportunity came in the 4th when Jenna DiMaggio led off the inning with a double. Pinch runner Laura Koeppen advanced to third on a sacrifice but was thrown out at the plate on Emily Bennin's bunt attempt.

Burke, who allowed 9 hits and just one walk, saw her record fall to 10-5 while Adcox improved to a glossy 14-1.
