NAC Women's Golf Championship Day 2 Results
WEST CHICAGO, Ill. - Muriel McIntyre increased her individual lead by eight strokes during the second round of the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Golf Championship on Monday on the par-72, 5,831 yard St. Andrew Golf Course. The Concordia University Wisconsin women's golf team shot 12 strokes better than the opening round, but is still in seventh place overall.
McIntyre carded a 3-over par 75 and now leads by 14 strokes. She shot one stroke better than her opening round 5-over par 76 on the par-71 version of the course. McIntyre leads the field with 22 pars and three birdies. McIntyre (senior, Penticton, British Columbia, Canada) is also even-par on par-5s. The three-time NAC Player of the Year has now fired eight rounds in the 70s, the most in a single-season during her impressive career.
Minnesota-Morris University continues to hold the top spot with a 717 team total. Edgewood College jumped one spot on the leaderboard during Monday's 18 holes with a 346 team score - the lowest 18-hole team score of the tournament thus far - and is one shot back in second place.
Abby Fragodt (Minnesota-Morris University) is in second place overall after shooting an 82-83 - 165 total score.
Freshman Emily Bartanen (Ishpeming, Mich.) improved seven strokes (116-109 - 225) on Monday to advance two spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 32nd for CUW. Freshman Sarah Tollefson (Apple Valley, Minn.) stayed in 36th place despite shooting four strokes better (120-116 - 236) during the second round of the Championship. Freshman Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) rounds out the Falcons lineup after carding back-to-back 122s to finish with a 244 total score.
The final 18 holes will be held on Tuesday at St. Andrew Golf Course, but will return to a par-71 and at 5,807 yards.
