NAC Women's Golf Championship Final Results
WEST CHICAGO, Ill. - Muriel McIntyre increased her lead dramatically during the final round to win medalist honors at the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Golf Championship on the par-71, 5,807 yard St. Andrews Golf Course. The Concordia University Wisconsin women's golf team completed their best round of the championship, but finished in seventh place overall.
McIntyre fired a NAC single-round record 1-under-par 71 to earn her fourth-consecutive individual medalist trophy. She finished with a 221 total and increased her lead to 32 strokes after improving her score each round of the championship. McIntyre (senior, Penticton, British Columbia, Canada) led the field with 33 pars and seven birdies, while finishing 1-under on par 5s. She concludes her career as the second student-athlete in NAC history to earn Player of the Year honors on four occasions.
Edgewood College continued its accent up the leaderboard and carded a championship-best team score of 345 to win the team title by 12 strokes over second round leader Minnesota-Morris University .
CUW linksters shot their best single round score, 408, of the championship but the Falcons were unable to move up the leaderboard. Freshman Emily Bartanen (Ishpeming, Mich.) finished with a 337 total (116-109-112), but fell one spot and finished in 33rd place. Freshman Sarah Tollefson (Apple Valley, Minn.) fired her best round of the tournament, 112, to conclude the championship with a 348 total and a 36th place finish. Freshman Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) recorded the largest decrease in strokes for the Falcons, 114, cutting eight shots from her previous two rounds to finish with a 358 total and a 39th place finish.
