Women's Golf cruises past Marian in home dual
MEQUON, Wis. – In less than a week, Concordia University Wisconsin has defeated Marian University twice in a home-and-home women's golf dual. On Friday afternoon, the Falcons defeated the Sabres by 55 strokes, while Nina Puch earned medalist honors at the par 72 5,998 yard River Club of Mequon.
It was the last competitive event for the Falcons before they enter the three-day Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship on Oct. 5 at Trappers Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
CUW shot a 396 total, while MU had a 451 team score.
The Falcons improved 10 strokes from their previous dual against the Sabres last Saturday. CUW carded 10 pars and sank a pair of birdies during the round. Freshman Megan Reddersdorf (Marengo, Ill.) led the team with three-consecutive pars.
Puch (sophomore, Des Plaines, Ill.) led all players with a 93 (46-47), while Westphal (sophomore, Brownsville, Wis.) shot a 96 (47-49). Westphal improved 12 strokes from last Saturday and drained a birdie putt on a 116-yard par 3.
Reddersdorf fired a 101 (49-52), which was an 11-shot improvement from last Saturday. Sophomore Madalyn Joannes (Wauwatosa, Wis.) and freshman Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) each had a 106 total. Metanova made a birdie chip on her final hole of the day.
Angela Krueger paced the Sabres with a 99 (49-50) total.
