MEQUON, Wis. – The offensive showcase from Friday night's contest carried over into Saturday afternoon's victory for No. 6 UW-River Falls, as it defeated Concordia University Wisconsin, 7-1, in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
UW-RF outshot CUW by a commanding 43-11 margin and converted 3-of-5 power-play chances. In the two-game league series, UW-RF outshot CUW by an 81-26 margin and scored a goal in each game within the first 19 seconds.
The visitors led 3-1 after the opening period via a goal by Kait Mason 13 seconds into the contest and power-play goals by Chloe Kinsel and Allie Olson.
Freshman Michelle Musil (Maple Grove, Minn.) pounded home the hosts only score of the game, a power-play tally, with freshman Chelsea Regan (Oakdale, Minn.) and junior Maxine Blohowiak (Green Bay, Wis.) assisting.
UW-RF swarmed the net constantly and scored three more goals in the second period to extend its lead to 6-1. Amanda Ryder found the back of the net for a power-play marker, while Crysta Lowell and Alyssa Jackson scored even-strength goals.
Brook Story scored the game's final goal less than three minutes into the final stanza.
Gillian McDonald and Meaghan Wenner combined for 10 saves between UW-RF's pipes, while CUW sophomores Andrea Mizanskey (Palos Heights, Ill.) and Kaitlyn Evans (Fairbanks, Alaska) combined for 36 saves.
CUW will not return to the ice until Jan. 10 when it begins a four-game road swing against the College of St. Benedict.
