WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey senior Veronika Metanova was named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week for the events of January 30-February 5, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) rewrote the Falcons record books this weekend by becoming the program's all-time leading scorer following a four-point effort Friday against Marian. She scored two first-period goals and added two third-period assists in a 6-1 win giving her 87 points in her career.
In addition to setting the point's record, Metanova moved to a tie atop the Falcons all-time assists leaders with 53. She is also two goals shy of tying that all-time record.
Metanova and the Falcons are back in action this weekend with a two-game NCHA road series at St. Scholastica. The opener is set for Friday night at 7 p.m.
