Reiter scores school record seven goals, Women's Lacrosse falls to Pacific
MEQUON, Wis.- Concordia University Wisconsin's Sammi Reiter scored a program record and career-high seven goals, but it was not enough to prevent an 18-10 defeat against Pacific University Saturday afternoon at Fitting Field. Reiter has found the back of the net an amazing 38 times this season.
Head coach Emily Mason's team stayed close in the first half, outshot by just an 18-17 margin and trailing by only 8-6, before the Boxers scored in the last four seconds of the first half to gain a three goal advantage.
CUW cut the deficit to 9-8 in the first two minutes of the second half before the visitors pulled away with three straight tallies and never looked back. For the game, PU (7-5) owned a 38-23 shot advantage and cleared 11-of-15 opportunities. The Boxers' Carmen Taplin matched Reiter with a seven goal performance and her teammates Melanie Niehaus and Brooke Painter added three each.
Sophomore Aly Pinkos (South Milwaukee, Wis.), freshman Alina Zibutis (Naperville, Ill.), and senior Marie Melton (Prior Lake, Minn.) had single tallies for CUW (1-8) with Zibutis getting the only assist.
The second year Falcons, 1-1 in league play, have a week to prepare for a trip to Fremont, Neb., where they will take on Midland University next Saturday at 11 a.m.
