MEQUON, Wis. - Head coach Ryan Middendorf
and the Concordia University Wisconsin women's soccer team are
looking to get back on track in Northern Athletics Conference play
after dropping their last two contests, both at home. The Falcons
host Edgewood College on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Fitting Field.
Fans unable to attend the match can listen to Matt Menzl's play-by-play radio broadcast by clicking here, or updates via Twitter.
Despite falling in their last two outings to MSOE, 4-0, and Aurora University, 3-1, the Falcons are still in second place with a 5-2-0 NAC record based on accumulated points. The Eagles have played one fewer conference match.
Senior Renee Hecker (Harrison Township, Mich.) connected with junior Lauren Straehler (Pewaukee, Wis.) for the Falcons only score against Aurora with under 10 minutes to play. The goal was Straehler's 10th of the season and it was Hecker's four assist of the year.
In the latest NCAA (DIII) women's soccer rankings -- Oct. 3 -- CUW dropped to 18th in the nation in scoring and is now averaging 3.5 goal per match. The Falcons are also ranked in four different team categories. Individually, Straehler ranks in the top-71 in four categories, including 29th in total points with 25.
Edgewood is 6-3-1 over its last 10 matches and has outscored its opponents by a 13-5 margin in conference play. Overall, Elaine Gerry has found the back of the net on 12 occasions, which is tied for third in the NAC.
CUW returns to road for a two-match stretch beginning on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. at 4:30 p.m.
