KAYLA SCHLOSSER POSTGAME

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Sabres struck first on Wednesday, scoring in the 28th minute on the fifth goal of the season from Reilly Louko. The Falcons had a quick response, however, as Schlosser (Germantown, Wis.) scored her first goal just 1:17 later off a corner kick by Anna Knueppel (Germantown, Wis.).

- The Falcons came out strong immediately after halftime as much of the early second-half possession was in the CUW offensive zone. That included Schlosser's second goal just 31 seconds into the half, this coming off a cross from Shannon Carroll (Mundelein, Ill.).

- About midway through the second half, momentum switched to Marian's offensive end, which led to the tying goal from the Sabres. Shannon Coughlin had the equalizer in the 61st minute.

- Schlosser would find a way to win a 1-on-1 with the keeper in the 79th minute, completing her first career collegiate hat trick. Her final score was unassisted.

- CUW finished the match with a 23-4 edge in shots, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. Schlosser led all players with seven total shots, four of those on goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The win was the ninth straight NACC-opening win for the Falcons. CUW has now outscored its opponents 57-3 in its last nine NACC openers.

- Schlosser's hat trick was the first for CUW since the 2014 season. Brittany Klumpp recorded three scores in a match at North Park on September 10.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will remain at home for another NACC match Saturday. CUW will host Benedictine in the second part of a men's/women's doubleheader. The women's match is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
