Women’s Tennis cruises to NAC victory over Marian

MEQUON, Wis. – It was another shutout for Concordia University Wisconsin's tennis team on Wednesday afternoon as they earned a Northern Athletics Conference victory, 9-0, against Marian University at North Shore Country Club.

The Falcons wasted no time taking an early 3-0 after doubles play. They then went on to claim on six singles competitions for their second shutout of the year.

"I was impressed tonight," head coach Steven Anschutz said. "I had to change up the doubles lineup and nobody on the team complained. Callie and Jackie played beautiful doubles and controlled the majority of the points. In singles, we controlled the majority of matches except at No. 3 and No. 4 singles where Marian had some very strong players. Kristine had to play a girl who was her complete opposite and made her dig down deeper than she has. She lost the first set 0-6 and was down 2-5 in the second set. We talked and changed our game plan and Kristine came back to win the set 7-5, and went on to win in a super tiebreaker, absolutely amazing!"

Singles competition
No. 1. Julie Spransy (CUW) def. Ann Goyke (MU) 6-1, 6-3
No. 2. Jaclyn Ward (CUW) def. Reilly Connaher (MU) 6-2, 6-3
No. 3. Kristine Weber (CUW) def. Brynn Hartzell (MU) 0-6, 7-5, 12-10
No. 4. Callie Reinke (CUW) def. Chelsey Will (MU) 6-3, 3-6, 10-6
No. 5. Ashley Knoll (CUW) def. Sarah Brooker (MU) 6-3, 6-3
No. 6. Emily McCormick (CUW) def. Rachell Stoffel (MU) 6-1, 6-0
