Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

CUW SAAC – Student Athlete Advisory Committee

A student-athlete advisory committee is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations, and policies that affect student-athletes’ lives on NCAA member institutions campuses. NCAA legislation mandates that all member institutions have SAAC on campus and in every conference.

The purpose of SAAC is to:
• Generate a student-athlete voice within the institution
• Generate a student-athlete voice within the conference
• Review and respond to proposed NCAA legislation
• Support the campus and conference community through community outreach efforts.

“The mission of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image.”

Concordia University Wisconsin’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee follows the mission of the NCAA by supporting the student-athletes of all athletic teams, creating opportunities for student-athletes to serve, portraying a positive image of Concordia student-athletes on the campus and in the community, and contributing to the overall success of Concordia.

SAAC represents approximately 400 student athletes on campus with at least two representatives from each athletic team serving on the committee. Throughout the school year, SAAC is involved in positively impacting the Concordia community through supporting an individual sport by encouraging attendance at indentified competitions. The second primary focus of SAAC is to create service opportunities to support Concordia’s focus on service to the world. The student-athletes volunteer to set up for home athletic events to relieve the burden on the athletic coaching staff. SAAC also conducts campus wide service projects and enlists the help of other CUW organizations to make a larger impact on the university and community.
