Concordia 4 Benedictine 1

Following a disappointing result against MSOE earlier in the week, the Concordia women's soccer squad bounced back and made sure they finished what they started on Saturday. Jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 15:52, the Falcons never let up and wound up winning 4-1 at Benedictine.

Becky Ott got the scoring started, taking a Gabrielle Rabenhorst pass and sending it into the back of the net just 7:34 into the game. Then nearly seven minutes later, Emily Waldorf notched her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Straehler. Ott continued the offensive attack talling her second goal of the game and seventh of the year, when she scored an unassisted goal 57 seconds later.

Concordia went into halftime leading 3-1, with Benedictine's lone goal coming on a penalty kick resulting from a handball in the box on the Falcons. Outshooting the Eagles 11-2 in the opening 45 minutes, CUW came out and kept the pressure on taking seven more shots and allowing only two more in the final half of play. Waldorf added one more goal for good measure in the 69th minute, with Ott being credited with the assist.

Goalkeeper Mary Ryan put together a strong performance, allowing only one goal and making three saves in four chances in 90 minutes of play. The Falcons finished by controlling most of the statistic categories, while improving their record to 5-3-2 overall and 3-0-2 in conference play.

Coach Ryan Middendorf's team continues their conference slate on Thursday, when the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders come to Fitting Field for a 4pm kickoff.
