Milwaukee
Concordia was awarded a penalty kick in the first minute of play
and Lauren Straehler's successful conversion held up for the entire
match as the Falcons defeated MSOE 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Raiders, who had an 8-2-2 record in the NAC regular season, had
a dozen corner kick opportunities during the match but all were
swept away by a stalwart Falcon defense.
Statistics showed an even match with each keeper making 8 saves,
but Ryan Middendorf's team, now 11-8-1, will advance to the NAC
semi-finals on Wednesday when they travel to Aurora for a 1pm
encounter.
"Mary Ryan (Falcon goalie) came up huge and Rachel Kleba swept
one shot off the line with her head," said Middendorf. "It was
just an excellent match for us."
