Aurora, IL
CUW's Jon Wengel tied for 7th overall at the NAC AQ meet held at
the Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Illinois that was completed
today.
Wengel shot an 80 in Day 1 blustery conditions and followed that
up with an 81.
Other Falcon scores included Nick Falkowski 90- 84; Eric Hertel
93- 83, and Michael Phung 104- 96.
Concordia finished tied for 6th of the 10 competing NAC schools.
Champion MSOE wound up 19 strokes ahead of their nearest competitor
(Edgewood) to win the team title.
"A last minute withdrawal left us one golfer short," said coach
Ray Engelking. "We had to compete with less than a full team, but
despite the adverse circumstances, our guys stepped up!"
"Micheal Phung played valiantly despite a back injury so that
our team would not be DQ'd. Our highlight was Jon Wengel. After 36
holes Jon was just 2 strokes away from receiving a Medalist Trophy
(the top 5 out of 50 qualify."
CUW will be playing at the Lawrence Invite at Eagles Creek GC,
Hortonville, WI. this Sat., and at the American Family Classic,
Kenosha CC, (UW-Parkside) this coming Monday.
