MEQUON, Wis.
- Concordia University Wisconsin's women's
soccer team begins Northern Athletics Conference play Tuesday
afternoon at 4 p.m. against Rockford College at Smith Athletic
Field.
The Falcons (0-1-0) are
looking to avenge a 5-1 season-opening loss to UW-Whitewater last
Thursday on their home turf, Fitting Field. The defending WIAC
Champions opened the contest with three goals in the first 47:44,
before senior Kelli Wittenberg (Sturtevant, Wis.) tallied her first
goal of the season, assisted by sophomore Ashley Apazeller
(Jackson, Wis.).
Junior Samantha Anacker
(Janesville, Wis.) made her second career start - first as the
full-time goalkeeper - and recorded five saves.
Last season CUW jumped on
Rockford early with a pair of goals and tacked on three more during
a six minute span to cruise to a 10-0 home victory. Emily Waldorf
finished with a hat trick, while junior Chelsea Driver (Greenwood,
Ind.), Abby Hoeflich, and Becky Ott each recorded a pair of
assists.
The Falcons return home on
Saturday for a non-conference matchup against Lake Forest College
at 1 p.m. at Fitting Field.
