ROCHESTER,
Minn. - After going 1-1 against UW-Stout and Bethel one
day prior, the Concordia University Wisconsin softball team had the
same result on Sunday inside the Rochester Dome, splitting a pair
of games against Cornell College and University of Wisconsin-La
Crosse.
CUW (2-2) fell short
against Cornell, losing 5-3, but took down La Crosse by a 6-2
margin, handing the Eagles (3-1) their first loss of the
season.
Against Cornell, the
Falcons collected eight hits, but couldn't cash in with runners in
scoring position.
Freshman Jessica Liszka
(Lindenhurst, Ill.) went 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored while
sophomore Breanne Geipel (Hartland, Wis.) went 1-3 with a solo
HR.
The Falcons bounced
back in the second game of the day, however, exploding for five
runs in the second inning and never looking back.
Sophomore pitcher Jamie
Schuh (Freedom, Wis.) threw a complete game, allowing only two runs
on six hits. Schuh also
recorded six strikeouts.
At the plate, freshman
Sara Skarda (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) went 2-3 with one RBI and one
run scored.
The Falcons will now
have three weeks of practice before they head to Clermont, Florida
on March 17. They are scheduled to play 10 games in five days in
the Sunshine State.
