MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin cruised past Lakeland College, 34-15, on Friday night inside the R. John Buuck Field House. The match lasted just 45 minutes, as five of the bouts were forfeited because of injuries for both teams.

The Falcons went ahead 18-0 after the Muskies forfeited the first three bouts at 125, 133 and 141. CUW then gave up the 149-pound bout. Junior Pierce Holtfreter (Las Vegas, Nev.) lost the 157-pound bout by decision, 6-3, which was followed by a Falcons forfeit to allow the Muskies to get within three points, 18-15.

CUW (6-4) won the four remaining bouts to earn a victory before the Northern Wrestling Association Tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14. Sophomore Mason Mergener (Crivitz, Wis.) pinned his 174 pound opponent in 2:52 to push the lead to 24-15. Freshman Mitchell Slatton (Granger, Ind.) earned a decision victory, 10-6, at 184 pounds, while senior Jake Reuteler (New Berlin, Wis.) picked up a major decision win, 9-1, at 197 pounds. Junior Paul Carter (Waukesha, Wis.) concluded the night with a decision victory, 6-3, at 285 pounds.
