Men's Golf competes at Aurora Spring Invitational

BRISTOL, Ill. – The weather has finally improved enough, but still isn't perfect for golfing, however Concordia University Wisconsin performed well on Monday and finished fifth at the 16-team Aurora University Spring Invitational on Monday at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course.

The Falcons sent a pair of teams to the first tournament of the spring portion of their schedule and were led by junior Mike Loftus (Germantown, Wis.) who placed in a tie for seventh with a 5-over-par 77. The top CUW team shot a 35-over 323 total, which was good for fifth place, while the other fired a 342 total to take 10th.

Austin Gass (University of St. Francis) fired a 2-under-par 70 to win medalist honors, which also led the University of St. Francis to the team title with a 16-over-par 304 team total. They edged Carthage College and Wheaton College by a stroke.

Also golfing well for the Falcons, were freshman P.J. Clemins (Cedarburg, Wis.) who began his collegiate career with an 8-over-par 80, and junior Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) carded an 80. Sophomore Nolan Dahlberg (Beloit, Wis.), also made his Falcon debut, shot a 10-over-par 82. As well, Sophomore Evan Rabas (Sherwood, Wis.) shot an 82.

CUW returns to the course on Thursday for the two-day University of St. Francis Invitational at Autumn Ridge Golf Club and Cherry Hill Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
