HOW IT HAPPENED

- First off, Schlosser (freshman – Germantown, Wis.) and Pfannerstill (senior – Grafton, Wis.) were dominant and it showed right away. Pfannerstill scored the first goal of the match 3:36 into play off an assist from Schlosser on a breakaway which deflected off the Warhawks keeper.

- It appeared UW-Whitewater would maybe take momentum into the half as the Warhawks tied the match at 1-1 with 6:47 to play in the first half. Brianna Greefkes scored the goal off a nice lead pass from Karina Rosales.

- The Falcons answered in a big way with two goals before the first 45 minutes ended, the first coming from junior Halie Schieffer (Belgium, Wis.). Schieffer took a touch from Schlosser and beat the keeper on the left side, scoring a goal in her first match of the season.

- Just minutes later Schlosser put an exclamation point on the first half with her first score of the game, this one unassisted. Schlosser raced passed the defense and beat the keeper top shelf for a 3-1 lead.

- The second half was all Falcons as Schlossesr took a beautiful cross from Pfannerstill in the 55th minute to make the score 4-1 in favor of the home team.

- Pfannerstill would add her second goal of the match in the 84th minute, giving the Falcons the convincing win over a nationally ranked opponent.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

- Another CUW soccer match and another great stat from radio personality Matt Menzl. In nine previous meetings with the Warhawks the Falcons netted a total of three goals. CUW scored five times on Wednesday for its first win in program history over UW-Whitewater.

- Schlosser was making her first appearance on the front line for the Falcons, moving from the midfield to forward. This was quite the move by head coach Ryan Middendorf as Schlosser was all over the field, racking up points for her team.

- Pfannerstill has had several big games in a Falcons uniform over her impressive career. Wednesday marked the 15th time, and second time this season, the senior has scored two or more goals in a match. When Pfannerstill scores two or more times the Falcons are 14-1-0.

- Schieffer has never been a player known for her goal scoring, but what a goal it was today. The junior netted just her second career score, the other coming during her freshman season in a 3-1 win over Benedictine.

- Sophomore Tabitha Ortiz (Plainfield, Ill.) played great at keeper, making three saves. What doesn't show up in the box score is the countless times Ortiz took away scoring chances and crosses from the Warhawks, limiting a team that entered averaging 3.4 goals per match to just one score.

- You can't have a win like the one the Falcons had Wednesday without a total team effort. From the goalkeeper to the backline to the midfield to the forwards and also to the bench, CUW controlled the match from the start.

THE OPPOSITION

- Erin Doody made four saves for the Warhawks, a team that allowed just two goals in five previous matches entering Wednesday.

UP NEXT

- CUW will look to build off of today's win as it begins conference play Saturday against Wisconsin Lutheran. The Falcons and Warriors will be the second part of a men's and women's doubleheaders, with the women's match set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
