RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Falcons came up short on Thursday evening in a resumption of game two of the series at Concordia Chicago. The Cougars walked away with a 6-5 victory to send the Falcons to 20-9 on the year. The Blue and White now hold a one-game lead in the NACC standings heading into the final weekend.
On Monday, junior Molly O'Connell (New London, Wis.) started the scoring in the third inning on a sacrifice fly that scored freshman Taylor Kuske (Kaukauna, Wis.).
The Cougars responded with four runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Freshman Nicki Becker (Brodhead, Wis.) recorded two strikeouts in the start.
The game was suspended in the top of the fourth inning due to storms.
CUC added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend the lead.
Freshman Payton Dorn (freedom, Wis.) made her second appearance in the circle this year and finished with a strikeout.
Junior Emma Schimberg (Random Lake, Wis.) started the rally in the sixth inning with a single down the left-field line to score senior Maddie Zazas (Mundelein, Ill.) and junior Samantha Schloegl.
Taylor Kuske tied the game on a double into the gap in left-center field to score Emma Schimberg and senior Sara Rosenow (Kimberly, Wis.).
The Cougars had a sacrifice fly to win the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
CUW remains a game ahead of MSOE in the NACC standings. The two teams finish NACC play this weekend against Edgewood and Rockford.
The Falcons will honor the senior class on Friday on senior day against Edgewood with a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.
