Four Matchups Means Four Wins for Esports

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team saw another dominant start to the week claiming four wins in their four matchups so far.

The Falcons saw a thriller out of the gate with a five-game victory over the Tigers of Clemson in the Rocket League title.  These games saw a comeback win from the squad when they were down 1-2.  Two of the five games in the matchup went into overtime, and one even got into the fourth minute of overtime.  On top of that, the fifth, winner takes all game saw a goal from the Falcons with the clock at 0:00 to stay undefeated and remain first in the league.

What is an esports week without a forfeit win?  The Valorant team saw their second forfeit win of the season pushing their overall record to 4-1.  Coach Slater understood this forfeit when he said, "Teams are scared of us, as they should be."

The "Match of the Week" for Falcon esports was the inter-squad duel between the A and B teams for Smash Bros.  The A team dominated posting two shutout victories of 2-0 and 3-0 to remain perfect in the league.  These matches saw 18 eliminations from the A team which was led by sophomore Angel Uriostegui (Round Lake, Ill.) with eight in the two-game matchup.

In their NECC League, the Falcon Rocket League team saw yet another win to prop them into a 5-0, undefeated season in this second league.  After a tough 1-7 loss in game one, the Falcons rallied to win three straight with final scores of 3-0, 4-1, and 5-1.  The trio of senior Austin Esterly (Lombard, Ill.), junior Aaron Huntley (Green Bay, Wis.), and sophomore Evan Moody (Milwaukee, Wis.) have cruised through their competition so far going a perfect 11-0 in the combined leagues dropping just five of 38 total games played.  In the NECC League, the Falcons are currently working with a +8.25-goal differential on their opponents per matchup.  If that isn't domination then the Rocket League team doesn't know what is.
