Falcons Burn the Firebirds in the Season Opener

KENOSHA, Wis. – The CUW wrestling team opened the season with a commanding 33-10 victory over Carthage in the season opener for the Falcons. Carthage falls to 0-3 on the year and in the CCIW with the loss.

At the 149-pound weight class, sophomore Lucas Regnier (Bradley, Ill.) won over a fall at 2:14.

Freshman Bryce Claypool (Morris, Ill.) picked up a fall at 2:05 in the 157-pound weight class over Collin Ruiz.

Junior Jack O'Donnell (Huntington Beach, Calif.) won by decision over Kobe Gilbert at 165 pounds at 12-5.

At 174 pounds, junior Quinn Hoopman (Cedar Grove, Wis.) won by tech fall at 15-0 over Devin Rogers.

Sophomore Peyton Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) picked up an 8-5 decision over Alex Hoffman at 184 pounds.

In the heavyweight battle, sophomore Cam Mercer posted a 5-0 decision over TJ Mackey.

Freshman Devin Gore (Plymouth, Wis.) won by decision over Loren Semler at 9-2.

Senior Austin Vincent (Stockton, Ill.) won by a major decision at 10-1 over Sebastian Rosales. 

The Falcons return to action on Nov. 19 at home against Bryant & Stratton.
