No. 24 Softball Sweeps No. 17 MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The 24th-ranked Falcons put themselves into the driver's seat in the NACC North Division race with a pair of victories at No. 17 MSOE. The Falcons silenced the Raiders with 3-0 and 3-1 victories to soar to 24-4 and to 14-0 in the NACC. MSOE falls to 24-4 and 11-3 in the NACC.

Junior Alyssa Vilkoski (Greenfield, Wis.) threw the first punch on Sunday with a single in the second inning to left field to score Junior Taylor Kuske (Kaukauna, Wis.).

Senior Kelsey Bollon (Orangeville, Ill.) smacked a triple into right field in the third inning to score sophomore Sydney Erdmann (Geneva, Ill.).  Senior Jenna Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) then scored Bollon.

Junior Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) had her hitless streak end on Sunday in a one-hit performance against the 17th-ranked Raiders. She struck out 11 batters in the victory.

Alyssa Vilkoski had three of the Falcons' eight hits in game one.

CUW struck first again in game two.

Junior Kristen Fontana (Hickory Hills, Ill.) scored sophomore Claudia Utz (Lockport, Ill.) on a sacrifice fly in the second inning.

Junior Krystal Cortes then singled to center field to score sophomore Gabbi Gaziano (Beloit, Wis.).

A third-inning double to centerfield off the bat of Kelsey Bollon scored Sydney Erdmann in the third inning.

The Raiders scored a run in the seventh inning on an error, but it would not be enough.

Junior Nicki Becker (Brodhead, Wis.) struck out five batters in the win.

Alyssa Vilkoski finished with two strikeouts in the save.

The Falcons host the Raiders on Monday for a pair of afternoon games.
