ANGOLA, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatic & tumbling team opened up its spring break road trip on Saturday evening at Trine. The Falcons fell to 1-2 on the season with a 236.245 to 243.070 defeat.
The Falcons had 29.50 points in the compulsory event, led by a 9.50 performance in the toss heat.
The birds scored season-best scores in all three acro heats for 23.95 points. CUW reached 9.00 points in the seven-element heat with freshman Emily Ruka (Racine, Wis.), junior Amanda Owens (Stevens Point, Wis.), senior Amy Eberth (Basehor, Kan.) and sophomore Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.).
The pyramid events saw CUW finish with 27.20 points with a 9.75 score in the open pyramid with junior Paityn Taormina (Geneva, Ill.), senior Jessi Alexander (Plainfield, Ill.), junior Haleigh Komprood (Janesville, Wis.), junior Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.) and Ellen Marie Sanders.
The Falcons took a bite out of the Trine lead with 27.20 points in the toss event. The Falcons scored nine or more points in all three heats, with a high-water mark of 9.15 points in the 450 salto heat. The birds broke the school record in the synchronized heat at 9.05 points.
CUW finished the tumbling event with 44.675 points. The quad pass finished with a season-high score of 6.350 points with Emily Ruka, freshman Kate Kotula (Wyomissing, Pa.), sophomore Madisen Arendt (Waukesha, Wis.) and sophomore Miranda Maciejewski (DeKalb, Ill.).
The Blue and White ended the day with 83.72 points in the team event.
