RHINELANDER, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin softball team went 1-1 in a Saturday doubleheader against the Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles, moving to 3-1 on the young 2024 season.

In the first game of the afternoon, junior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) opened the scoring, sending a hit up the middle to put the Falcons ahead in the first inning. Concordia would plate another run in the first as a result of an error, but the Eagles tied the game just as quickly in the second off of a two-run double.

Senior Claudia Utz (Lockport, Ill.) scored the go-ahead run for the Falcons in the third and would send two runners across home plate in the fourth with a double, putting Concordia ahead 6-2.

Once again, the Eagles managed to even the game, recording four runs in the bottom half of the inning.

After three scoreless frames sent the game into extra innings, Concordia's offense erupted in the eighth. Pozezinski broke the tie with a pair of RBIs to put the Falcons ahead, and junior Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) and sophomore Julia Moker (Hubertus, Wis.) each drove in a pair of runs to secure a 12-6 advantage. In the bottom half of the eighth, Freshman Gianna Carone (Crystal Lake, Ill.) earned a quick three outs on the mound to cement the victory for Concordia.

The Eagles emerged victorious in the second game of the doubleheader, putting together seven runs in the fourth inning to take the contest. Jess Pozezinski plated both of the Concordia runs in the fifth inning on a home run.

Concordia will head to Columbus, Georgia for their next set of action, set to take on the Piedmont Lions in the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
