Falcons Start Spring Season in Second Place at WLC

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track & field team opened the 2024 spring season on Thursday at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational. The Falcons finished in second place as a team with 103 points. The Raiders of MSOE claimed the team title with 242 points.

Junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) was the champion in the 110-meter hurdle at 16.51. Freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) was third at 16.74 and sophomore Brandon Donahue (Hubertus, Wis.) was fifth at 17.41.

Junior Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) broke the school record in the hammer throw at 51.97 meters in second place.

Senior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) claimed the crown in the javelin throw at 49.24 meters.

The high jump competition ended with Zach Wendland in second place at 1.80 meters and junior Jacob Couillard (Kingsford, Mich.) in fourth place at 1.60 meters.

In the 400-meter dash, freshman Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.) secured a third-place finish at 55.48.

Junior Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.) claimed the bronze medal in the pole vault competition at 3.80 meters and Zach Wendland followed in fourth place at 3.20 meters.

The 400-meter hurdles had freshman Luke Witte (Monroe, Mich.) in fourth place at 1:08.37 and Aaron Klug in fifth place at 1:12.22.

The Falcons finished fourth in the 4x100-meter relay. The team of sophomore Mason Knueppel (Jackson, Wis.), Josh Sipes, sophomore Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.) and Bernie Van Den Heuvel at 52.43.

In the long jump pit, Mason Knueppel claimed sixth place at 5.79 meters. The triple jump saw Knueppel finish in fourth place at 11.28 meters and freshman Aaron Klug (Arlington, Va.) finishing in fifth place at 10.76 meters.

Seth Day led the Birds in the shot put in seventh place at 11.89 meters.

Jacob Couillard was 10th in the discus throw at 31.11 meters.

Freshman Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.) ran a time of 2:11.51 in the 800-meter run in 13th place.

Nick Taylor was the fastest Falcon in the 200-meter dash in 16th place at 25.50.

Senior Jacob Kundert (Neenah, Wis.) ran the 100-meter dash at 13.71 and finished in 25th place.

The fastest Falcon in the 1500-meter run was freshman Mason Everts (Saukville, Wis.) in 26th place at 4:44.07.

The Falcons will run again at WashU on Friday.
