Falcons Finish Fifth at NACC Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track & field team finished the 2024 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Falcons finished in fifth place with 60 points over the two-day competition. The Falcons brought back three medals on Saturday to go with the gold medal for senior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) from Friday's javelin competition.

Freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) secured the silver medal in the high jump competition at 1.87 meters. He snagged his second silver medal of the day in the 400-meter hurdles at 57.06. Freshman Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.) finished in eighth place at 1:01.43.

Senior Timmy Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) brought home the bronze medal in the 5000-meter runs at 15:10.09. Freshman Karl Glick (Boca Raton, Fla.) finished in 16th place at 16:45.54 and freshman Mason Everts (Saukville, Wis.) was 19th at 17:40.95.

The Falcons opened the day in the hammer throw with sophomore John Kutner (Muskego, Wis.) leading the way in sixth place at 41.53 meters. Seth Day finished in 13th place at 36.42 meters and junior Jacob Couillard (Kingsford, Mich.) was 15th at 35.44 meters.

The running events opened with a seventh-place time in the 4x100-meter relay. The team of sophomore Mason Knueppel (Jackson, Wis.), Josh Sipes, sophomore Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.) and junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) finished at 45.59.

Concordia had three student-athletes in the 110-meter hurdle finals on Saturday. Bernie Van Den Heuvel was fourth at 15.76, Zach Wendland was seventh at 16.84 and sophomore Brandon Donahue (Hubertus, Wis.) was ninth at 16.95.

The 100-meter dash saw freshman  Se'Korrey Thomas (Punta Gorda, Fla.) take fifth place at 11.26.

In the 800-meter run, freshman Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) finished at 1:56.79 in fifth place.

Seth Day led the Concordia effort in the shot put in seventh place at 12.74 meters. Jacob Couillard collected a 17th-place mark at 10.52 meters and John Kutner was 20th at 10.20 meters.

Mason Knueppel was 11th in the long jump at 5.77 meters.

 The day ended with the 4 x100 meter relay seeing the Falcons finish in ninth place. The squad of Josh Sipes, freshman Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.), Zach Wendland and Isaiah Lubner clocked in at 3:35.76.

Saturday marked the finale for the team portion of the 2024 outdoor schedule.
