Falcons Bash Benedictine in NACC Opener

MEQUON, Wis. – It was all smiles for the Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer team in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) opener. The Falcons bounced Benedictine in the first NACC match of the year, 5-1. The win sends the Blue and White to 3-3-0 and sends the Eagles 0-6-1.

The Falcons had the first look of the contest in the third minute with a breakaway for senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) but the keeper made the first save of the match.

The Birds had a flurry of shots in the ninth minute that were blocked by the Benedictine defense.

Junior Brei Rozmiarek (West De Pere, Wis.) broke into the box and tossed a shot on the net in the 11th minute.

With 22 minutes left in the first halfway, a breakaway allowed the Falcons to throw a handful of shots on the net.

Freshman Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) struck again two minutes later with a pair of shots on the keeper.

In the 27th minute, freshman Isabella Wentorf (Racine, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard with her first collegiate goal on a shot from the 18-yard box that curled in on a pass from Jacey Read.

Senior Maya Bell (West Bend, Wis.) joined in on the scoring in the 35th minute after she stole the ball on a clear attempt and scored. This was her first goal since a 6-0 victory over Edgewood on Oct. 29, 2022.

The final goal of the half came off the boot of junior Shay Lange (Racine, Wis.) after she blasted a rebound off a shot from freshman Ava Fox (Juneau, Wis.) off the right post and into the net.

The three goals in the first half are the most in a half for the Falcons since the 7-1 victory over Lakeland on Oct. 25, 2023.

Junior Autumn Snow (Cedarburg, Wis.) had the first goal of the second half with a shot from 23 yards out off a pass from senior Bella Rapp (Grafton, Wis.).

The Eagles scored their lone goal off a corner kick in the 81st minute.

Wentorf closed the scoring after she sliced through the defense and tallied the fifth goal of the day for Concordia after passes from Maya Bell and freshman Hailey Whittow (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).

Senior Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) earned her third victory of the season. Sophomore Kara Claussner (St. Charles, Ill.) collected a save in the second half.

The Falcons posted a season-high 35 shots and 21 shots on goal. Sabrina Moore led the match with seven shots. Jacey Read had five shots on goals.

Concordia Wisconsin also posted a season-high eight corners in the victory.
