Falcons Shutout Lake Forest

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer team shined on a beautiful day on the shores of Lake Michigan. The Falcons picked up another 1-0 victory over Lake Forest to improve to 2-1-0 on the young season.

The Falcons had the first few looks of the net early in the first half with shots from senior Bella Rapp (Grafton, Wis.) and senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.).

The Falcons found the back of the net with a blast off the boot of Bella Rapp from just outside the 18-yard box for a similar goal to her first of the year against Lawrence that snuck past the keeper.

The Foresters had four shots that were saved by senior Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) in a two-minute stretch of the first half, but the Falcons held a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Falcons peppered the Lake Forest net with shots from Sabrina Moore, senior Sheridan Dorge (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and junior Autumn Snow (Cedarburg, Wis.) to start the senior half.

The Concordia defense did an excellent job of limiting the looks at the net and preserved its second shutout of the season.

Nine of the last 11 Concordia victories have been shutouts, over the last three seasons, 20 of the 24 victories have been shutouts.

Saturday marked the 20th complete shutout of Brooke Braga's career and the 23rd shutout of her career. The 20 complete-game shutouts is tied for the most in program history with Kristin McCauley. From 1997 to 2000, McCauley had 20 complete shutouts and two partial shutouts.

Braga collected five saves in the shutout.

The Falcons edged the Foresters with a 12-11 advantage in shots. Sabrina Moore led the match with five shots.

Concordia will begin its tour of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Wednesday at Wisconsin-Platteville.
