Women’s Soccer Battles at Dominican in NACC Quarterfinals

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer team faced a familiar foe on Sunday morning in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinals against Dominican. The Falcons fought hard for 90 minutes but fell on Sunday, 2-1.

The Stars held majority of the possession in first few minutes.

In the eighth minute, sophomore Hailey Whittow (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) juked past her defender and sent a shot to the upper corner of the net that was saved.

Dominican quickly marched down the field and rallied with a pair of shots.

In the 26th minute, the Falcons crossed the ball into the box but was just out of the reach of freshman Koffy'e Chappel (Oakland, Calif.).

Dominican had some dangerous looks as the clock dwindled in the first half, but the Concordia defense held strong.

The Concordia speed created an opportunity in the 35th minute that resulted in a shot for Koffy'e Chappel.

The Stars had some looks late in the first half and held a 9-2 advantage in shots, but the teams went into halftime tied at zero.

Junior Kara Claussner (St. Charles, Ill.) was tested early in the second half and came away with a save in the 48th minute.

The Stars scored on a rebound in the 52nd minute.

Hailey Whittow was able to break past her defender again in the 55th minute, but just missed to the right.

The Falcons tied the game 58th minute when senior Autumn Snow (Cedarburg, Wis.) rang the ball off the cross bar and Hailey Whittow cleaned up the rebound and kicked it in off the rebound for her fifth goal of the season.

The Stars threatened created a prolonged threat that lasted a few minutes starting in the 62nd minute, but the Falcons weathered the storm.

Dominican reclaimed the lead again in the 68th minute.

In the 70th minute, sophomore Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) had a shot outside of the box that was blocked.

The Falcons continued to fight until the end and sophomore Madi Schrader (Sugar Grove, Ill.) was credited with a shot that was credited as a save from distance.

Two minutes later, Jacey Read sped past the defense and put another shot on net.

The Falcons earned a corner kick in the 88th minute and threatened but couldn't connect.

Dominican held a 24-9 advantage in shots on Sunday morning. Hailey Whittow led the Falcons with three shots.

Kara Claussner finished with six saves against the Stars.

Sunday marked the final game of the storied careers of Autumn Snow, Shay Lange (Racine, Wis.), Sara Gille (Stoughton, Wis.) and Brei Rozmiarek (West De Pere, Wis.).

This was the 19th appearance for the Falcons in the NACC Women's Soccer Tournament. Concordia is one of only three schools to qualify for 19 tournaments, with Dominican and MSOE.

Domincan advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday and will face the winner of the Illinois Tech and Wisconsin Lutheran match.

The Falcons finish the year with a 9-3-3 record and will be back in action in 2026.
