VERONA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team picked up two key Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) victories on Monday evening. The Falcons swept Edgewood with 7-3 and 11-0 victories. The Falcons improve to 10-6 overall and 3-1 in the NACC.
The Eagles threatened early with runners on second and third in the first inning, but two infield flyouts ended the inning.
Edgewood had two runners on again in the second inning, but a double play iced the threat.
The Falcons broke open the game with five runs in the fifth inning.
With two outs, senior Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) sent a spicy shot to shortstop that was too hot to handle and senior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) and sophomore Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.) both scored on the play.
Senior Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Wis.) then singled to left field, allowing junior Nora Statz (Helenville, Wis.) to score.
After a walk, sophomore Kaitlyn Way (Blaine, Minn.) whacked the ball into the gap in right-center field for a single that plated Jasmine Freeze and Megan Bloyer.
The Eagles earned two runs back in the bottom half of the inning on a deep double to right field.
The Falcons retaliated with solo home runs in the sixth inning from Jess Pozezinski and Megan Bloyer.
Edgewood added another run in the sixth inning but could not catch up.
Sophomore Emma Shellstrom (San Diego, Calif.) improved to 4-2 on the year in the circle and was sensational once again with three strikeouts in five innings. Sophomore Kylie Strupp (Slinger, Wis.) and senior Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.) also iced Edgewood with an inning each.
The trio of junior Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.), Kaitlyn Way and junior Taylor Jacobson (Kenosha, Wis.) all had two hits in the first game.
The Falcons ripped apart Edgewood in the third inning of game two with six runs.
Jenna Shadoski knocked the ball to right field on a sacrifice fly that gracefully plated senior Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.).
Megan Bloyer rocked the ball to left field on a double that cleared the bases of Nora Statz and Jess Pozezinski.
The Blue and White pulled off a perfect double steal when Rylie DuVal outfoxed the Eagles and Jasmine Freeze snuck past the defense to score.
Adrianna Martinez singled through the left side of the infield to get Rylie DuVal safely into the dugout.
As the temperature dropped in the fifth inning, the Falcons' bats warmed up and scored five more runs.

A wild pitch put Taylor Jacobson on the scoreboard.

The final run of the game came on a shot to second base for Nora Statz had Jenna Shadoski to scurry home.
Jasmine Freeze dominated the Eagles for her third win of the year. The senior only allowed three hits and had three strikeouts in the win.
Adrianna Martinez had three hits in game two.
The Falcons did not commit an error on Monday.
Concordia Wisconsin will rest up before facing Carroll on Thursday. The Falcons will host eight games over a five-day stretch.
