OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team opened the 2025 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament on Thursday morning. The Falcons opened the double-elimination tournament with a 0-6 loss to the Titans. Wisconsin-Oshkosh is ranked 16th in this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) top-25 rankings.
Senior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) started the game with a single to the middle of the infield.
The Titans showed stellar movement of the base runners in the first inning and scored two runs.
The Black and Gold added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Jess Pozezinski struck again in the third inning with a double into the gap in left-center field.
The Falcons had two base runners in the fourth inning with a single for junior Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.) to left field and a single for sophomore Kaitlyn Way (Blaine, Minn.), but a snag at shortstop ended the threat.
The Blue and White added two more hits in the sixth inning with senior Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) smacking a single to left field and Rylie DuVal knocking a single to left field.
Jess Pozezinski and Rylie DuVal finished with a game-high two hits.
Sophomore Emma Shellstrom (San Diego, Calif.) earned the start on Thursday, and sophomore Kylie Stupp (Slinger, Wis.) only allowed two hits in the final four innings.
The Titans improve to 37-6 on the year and will take on Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the winners' bracket at 11:00 on Friday.
The Falcons move to 31-12 on the season and will face Central of Iowa at 1:30 on Friday. The winner of that game will play at 4:00 against the loser of Oshkosh and Stevens Point.
