APPLETON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin women's soccer team began their 2025 campaign with a tie against Lawerence University. The matchup ended with a final score of, 2-2.
The Falcons struck first when
Hailey Whittow reached the back of the net near the end of the first half. Assisted by fellow sophomore
Jacey Read, this gave CUW the lead going into the half.
The Vikings did not go quietly, they responded with a pair of goals in the 57th and 65th minute. The Falcons battled on offense with the tying score coming in the final 10 minutes of the contest. Senior
Autumn Snow prevented Lawerence's victory with an unassisted goal at 80:25.
Overall, the Falcons' offense made an impact with 15 total shots, 14 being on goal.
Brei Rozmiarek led the way with four shots, all on goal. Junior netminder,
Kara Claussner, faced 13 shots from the Vikings and grabbed four saves.
CUW will head south to Kenosha, Wis. for their next two matches. The Falcons will compete in the Battle on the Border hosted by Carthage College. The team will face the Firebirds first at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Falcons will play Kalamazoo College at 3 p.m. the following day.
