Falcons Places Eighth at Marian University Invite

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin women's golf team completed their time at the Marian University Invite on Monday. The first round of competition was held at Rolling Meadows Golf Cub on Sunday. Today's round was held at Whispering Springs Golf Club.
 
The Falcons found success at Whispering Springs with a handful of birdies and two eagles. Overall, the team finished in eighth place after scoring +216 (282-410).
 
Freshman Alexa Cour (Rome, Wis.) tied for 19th at the end of the tournament. Cour shot +17 on day one and +19 on day two, for a final score of +36. The freshman secure two birdies during the second round, which helped her jump up eight spots in the final rankings.
 
Senior Shauna Grahn (New Berlin, Wis.) earned a share of 33rd at +49(97-102). Grahn had two eagles during the second set of 18, both on par fives. Senior Paige Zirbel (De Pere, Wis.) had a birdie of her own on the final day. Zirbel completed the tournament at +54 (96-102), placing T-37th.
 
Freshman Elizabeth Albers (Green Bay, Wis.) took 43rd scoring +92 (115-121). Completing the Falcons lineup was junior Ava Stortz (Slinger, Wis.) who shot +28 on day one but withdrew during the second round.
 
CUW is set to compete against Edgewood in the third edition of the Bird Bowl. The Falcons won last year's Bird Bowl in Madison, 374-440. This year's duel will take place at Concordia's home course The River Club of Mequon, with tee times still to be announced.
