Falcons Compete at Aurora Grand Prix Against Deep Field

CHICAGO – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track and field team competed at the 2026 Aurora Grand Prix on Saturday, hosted by Aurora University at the Dr. Conrad Worill Track and Field Facility. The Falcons faced a competitive field of 23 teams, including NACC opponents Aurora, Benedictine, Concordia Chicago, Dominican, and Wisconsin Lutheran.
 
The Falcons' mid-distance and distance runners turned in strong performances, highlighted by the 800-meter run. Seniors Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) and Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) finished second and fifth, respectively. Van Grinsven clocked a time of 2:21.28, while Arvis followed in 2:25.25. Junior Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) also competed in the event, placing third with a time of 2:30.24.
 
Junior Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) represented Concordia Wisconsin in the mile, finishing 16th in 5:24.67. Senior Abby Poehlman (Hubertus, Wis.) was the Falcons' lone competitor in the 3,000-meter run, where shefinished at 10:30.47 to earn a seventh-place finish.
 
Sophomore Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) enjoyed a productive day both on the track and in the field. Read placed 12th in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 26.49, and later finished eighth in the high jump after clearing 1.54 meters.
 
Junior Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) also competed in the high jump, clearing 1.54 meters to place fifth based on fewer attempts at the height.
 
In the pole vault, senior Kate Kotula (Wyomissing, Pa.) cleared a season-best 3.09 meters to finish fourth. Kotula also competed in the triple jump, placing 13th with a mark of 10.36 meters.
 
Freshman Sophia Wunderlich (Greenville, Wis.) added a strong showing in the triple jump, finishing seventh with a leap of 10.64 meters, achieved on her third attempt.
 
In the throwing events, junior Bryanna Mursch (Grafton, Wis.) placed 11th in the weight throw with a mark of 12.33 meters. Junior Paige Schreiber (Dousman, Wis.) recorded a 13th-place finish in the shot put, setting a season-best mark of 10.41 meters.
 
The Falcons return to action next weekend at the Squig Converse Open + Multi, hosted by UW-Whitewater. The two-day meet begins Friday, Jan. 30, with multi events starting at 11 a.m., followed by individual events on Saturday at the D.L.K. Kachel Fieldhouse in Whitewater, Wis.
