DE PERE, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin women's soccer team (7-8, 6-2 NACC) defeated the St. Norbert Green Knights (6-9-1, 5-4 NACC) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon on the road, earning its second consecutive victory and sixth NACC win.

The Birds got on the board early thanks to junior midfielder Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.), who slotted the ball into the back of the net in the 15th minute, giving her team a 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by sophomore midfielder Gabi Ferraj (Huntley, Ill.).

Concordia Wisconsin took that lead into the locker room, outshooting St. Norbert 10-6 in the opening 45 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Kara Claussner (St. Charles, Ill.) recorded two saves in the first half.

In the 57th minute, the Green Knights found the equalizer off a free kick to even the score, 1-1.

However, Read struck again in the 79th minute, firing a shot into the top-left corner to put the Falcons back in front, 2-1. The goal was assisted by senior defender Lanie Czerkies (Joliet, Ill.), marking her third assist in two games.

With six seconds remaining, sophomore forward Koffy'e Chappel (Oakland, Calif.) dribbled past the St. Norbert defense and found the back of the net to seal the 3-1 win. Ferraj recorded the assist, her third in two games.

Read recorded her second consecutive brace and now leads the Falcons with 10 goals and 26 points this season. Chappel added her ninth goal of the year, while freshman goalkeeper Aubrey Johnson (Cedar Grove, Wis.) made five second-half saves.

The Falcons will travel to Chicago, Illinois to face Illinois Tech on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. CST.
