WHITEWATER, Wis. – Three student-athletes from the Concordia Wisconsin women's track and field team competed in the 5,000-meter run Friday evening at the Midwest Elite Invitational, hosted by UW-Whitewater. Today the meet featured only the men's and women's 5,000m races, with 98 competitors lining up across five heats on the 200-meter track on the women's side.

Competing in the event for just the second time this season, junior Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) placed fourth overall with a time of 17:18.86. She averaged approximately 41.55 seconds per 200-meter split, finishing just three seconds shy of her personal best set earlier this season at the UWO Early Bird & Multi in December.

Senior Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) ran in the same heat as Ahrens and completed the 25 laps in 18:52.46. Senior Abby Poehlman (Hubertus, Wis.) competed in an earlier heat and finished 77th overall with a time of 19:37.85. It marked the first 5,000m race of the season for both Arvis and Poehlman.
